Nashmi: a home-services marketplace built for MENA
A TaskRabbit-style marketplace designed for how this region actually works: Arabic-first, WhatsApp at the center, and country-specific services on one platform.

The challenge
Western home-services platforms don’t fit MENA: wrong languages, wrong communication habits, and one service catalog forced on very different countries. Nashmi needed a single platform that could serve Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt — each with its own services, in Arabic, English, and French.
What we built
A full marketplace on Django, React, and PostgreSQL, designed around regional behavior:
- Multi-tenant architecture with country subdomains — one codebase, per-country services and content
- Search built on Elasticsearch with Arabic synonym mapping, so "سباك" and every local variant find the same plumber
- A provider-matching algorithm weighing neighborhood proximity, declared expertise, past performance, and fair workload distribution
- WhatsApp handoff instead of in-app chat — clients and providers talk where they already talk
- A provider wallet and pay-per-bid model, with the first year free to seed the marketplace
The results
- 500+ service providers and 1,200+ registered clients in the Jordan pilot
- 150+ services across 25+ neighborhoods, with 50+ requests processed monthly
- 99.2% uptime, and architecture ready for launch in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt
“BottleTech delivered exactly what we envisioned — a scalable platform that’s ready for regional expansion. The architecture allows us to easily add new countries and services as we grow.”
