JoFotara e-invoicing readiness checker
Twelve questions at most. The checker runs in your browser and asks for no email. You get a result and next steps, each linked to the ISTD document it comes from.
Check your readiness
Question 1 of 9
What JoFotara asks of a business
Two ways to issue invoices
With no accounting software, you add a sub-user and issue invoices on the JoFotara portal. With accounting software, you link the device to get a Client ID and a Secret Key, finish ISTD’s technical requirements, and the software sends invoices directly.
Registering
Log in to the ISTD e-services, open National E-Invoicing and create an account. Your tax number is filled in for you.
Three invoice families
Income invoice for sellers not registered for sales tax, general sales tax invoice and special sales tax invoice. Each has a return invoice. The payment method and the type of sale are coded in the invoice.
The QR code
JoFotara answers each invoice with a status, a QR code and a UUID. The QR code it returns must be printed on your invoice. Keep the ID, UUID, QR code and status.
Checking a QR code
A JoFotara QR code can be checked only in the Sanad app, under digital document verification.
For software teams
The invoice is a UBL 2.1 XML file, Base64-encoded inside JSON, sent with your Client ID and Secret Key. ISTD’s technical guide is at version 1.5.
Your purchases matter too
Under phase two, a purchase counts as a tax-deductible expense only if its invoice came from JoFotara or a linked system.
Penalties
Penalties for not issuing proper invoices fall under Article 64 of Income Tax Law No. 34 of 2014. Read the law or ask ISTD for the details.
Odoo
Odoo’s Jordan localisation includes a JoFotara module. It needs an Activity Number, a Secret Key and a Client ID. Ask your own vendor what yours supports.
How the result is decided, and what it rests on
The checker works through your answers in a fixed order and stops at the first match: outside Jordan, may be exempt, not started, started but not issuing, issuing with gaps, then on track.
A business registered for sales tax never gets the “may be exempt” result, and neither does one that is already issuing. A “not sure” answer adds a step to find out. It never raises or lowers your result.
Every step links to the ISTD document it comes from. The advice about typing 1,000 or more invoices a month by hand is our own rule of thumb, not an ISTD rule.
This page does not report any new phase or due date from ISTD, and we do not guess at one.
